History

The Clunes Landcare and Waterways Group originally a management group of Department of Environment and Sustainability was incorporated in 2010. Our prime objective is the revegetation and maintenance of Creswick Creek, Clunes.

Activities / Attractions

Our Landcare group holds regular community working bees together with Clunes Primary School and Wesley College. The focus of these working bees is weeding, spraying and planting the banks of the creek. Landcare grants are applied for through North Central Catchment Management Authority and Hepburn Shire. In 2013 we held our first education programme focussing on the platypus which inhabit Creswick creek in Clunes. In 2014 our Frogrober programme attraction was the endangered Growling Grass Frog which lives in and around the creek environs. In 2015 we will continue revegetation of the creek banks around the newly re-instated footbridge. We welcome community assistance at working bees so that we can continue the maintenance and revegetation of the creek, a valuable environmental resource and habitat to the many birds, fish, platypus, water rats and frogs that live there.

Meeting Dates

Clunes Landcare meets every two months (February, April, June, August and October) on the 4th. Wednesday of the month. The meeting place is the Clunes Angling Club, Service Street at 6.30pm.

Community Working Bees are held monthly from March through to September. These working days are held on the fourth Sunday of the month. For details of the current working bee, please refer to the Clunes Newsletter or the Landcare Noticeboard near the football oval.
