The Clunes Traders warmly welcome those returning to Clunes and those booktraders coming to “Clunes Booktown” for the first time in May 2008.
We are proud and excited to have it on our calendars as an annual event and 2008 promises to be even better than the inaugural event in 2007 which attracted a huge crowd in excess of 6000. This event has the total support of the Clunes traders and some will be offering special deals to booksellers. These will be sent out soon after acceptances.
Since last May we have had a steady increase in the number of visitors to town and it is not unusual to see a street full of cars – something that was not so regular 12 months ago.
A number of new businesses have opened, several businesses are carrying out renovations, and others have new management; all of which will enhance the retail sector of Clunes. There is no doubt that much of this increased activity has been influenced by “Booktown”.
As our army of volunteers work steadily towards the big day in May, the Clunes traders look forward to welcoming the book traders and hope that you will find some time to enjoy our local hospitality.
